Gran'ma's Apple Pie

Gran’ma’s Apple Pie Shop bakes and sells the best apple pies in the world in the town of Quartzsite, Arizona during the Snowbird season November-mid February.

Doug and Judy Adams purchased Gran’ma’s Apple Pie Shop from the founding owner Jeannie Helms.    It was a life-long dream of Jeannie’s to own an apple pie shop so Jeannie along with her husband George and her gran’ma’s apple pie recipe started the Gran’ma’s Apple Pie Shop in Quartzsite in 2006.  The pie shop was a hit as people from all over the country came back time after time for more of gran’ma’s delicious apple pie.

Doug and Judy first heard about gran’ma’s apple pie from Doug’s father, an RV’er who enjoyed the pie during annual visits to Quartzsite.   In 2010 he noticed that Gran’ma’s Apple Pie Shop was up for sale and called Doug to let him know.  Judy had just lost her job of 25 years due to company cutbacks so the timing was just right.  They contacted Jeannie, met with her the following day and purchased Gran’ma’s Apple Pie Shop.

Judy with Jeannie’s help learned just how to make these wonderful pies.   Judy’s mother was also known for her pie baking and  Judy has fond childhood memories of rolling out pie dough and the wonderful aroma of pies baking in the oven during  apple season.

Judy enjoys baking pies and connecting with her loyal customers.  Many of her customers make it a priority to stop on their way through Quartzsite for pie and conversation.  One of her most memorable moments was when a couple passing through Quartzsite picked up a whole pie  then came back through a couple of days later,  bought another whole pie and asked for two forks so they could eat it on their way home!  Doug and Judy invite you to do the same!
